oracle openworld 2012

Oracle OpenWorld kicked off on 30th September 2012 i.e. right after Salesforce.com’s Dreamforce. Both the events were held at the same location i.e. Moscone Center, San Fransisco, California. The event opened with a keynote address from the company’s supreme leader, Larry Ellison.

People present there said it was a huge event. Let us see by the numbers as how huge it was:

  • 50,000 attendees from 123 countries
  • 1,000,000 expected online attendees
  • 2,523 sessions scattered across 14 venues in downtown SF
  • Only 40,942 seats for sessions, which accounts for 81 percent of attendees
  • 3,750 total speakers
  • 457 partner and customer exhibitors
  • 406 Oracle demos going on
  • 300,000,000 social interactions expected across 126 Oracle social properties
  • Expected impact to SF Bay Area: $120 million
  • Number of cups of coffee served: 142,000
